Potassium dihydrogen phosphate is used as an agricultural fertilizer and a buffering agent in pesticide formulations.
Potassium Dihydrogen Phosphate Concentrated Injection (also known as monobasic potassium phosphate) is used to treat patients with lower than normal levels of potassium or phosphate in their blood when the patient is unable to take potassium phosphate by mouth.
This medication helps control the amount of calcium in the body and urine. It works by making the urine more acidic.It is used to prevent calcium kidney stones. It is also used to decrease the amount of ammonia in urine, thereby reducing odor and skin irritation caused by high-ammonia urine.
Potassium phosphate is used to treat or prevent hypophosphatemia (low blood levels of phosphorus). Potassium phosphate is sometimes added to intravenous (IV) fluids given to people who cannot eat or drink anything. Potassium phosphate may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.
