BISMUTH NITRATE PENTAHYDRATE
Bismuth nitrate pentahydrate is a salt composed of bismuth in its cationic +3 oxidation state and nitrate anions. The most common solid form is the pentahydrate. It is used in the synthesis of other bismuth compounds. It is available commercially.
Bismuth nitrate is a salt. It contains the heavy metal bismuth. People use bismuth nitrate for preventing kidney damage caused by cancer drugs, for preventing bone marrow damage.
Bismuth nitrate is a salt. It contains the heavy metal bismuth. People use bismuth nitrate for preventing kidney damage caused by cancer drugs, for preventing bone marrow damage caused by radiation, and for a digestive tract infection that can lead to ulcers (Helicobacter pylori or H.
Bismuth nitrate pentahydrate is an oxidant for a variety of 4-substituted Hantzsch 1,4-dihydropyridines. It also serves as a reagent for selective oxidation of sufides to sulfoxides. Further, it is involved in the preparation of Dragendorff reagent and used as a TLC stain. It is also used to prepare other bismuth compounds.
700 mg of bismuth subnitrate three times daily for 4 weeks has been used. Also, 300 mg of bismuth subnitrate four times daily, 20 mg of omeprazole twice daily, and 500 mg of amoxicillin four times daily for 2 weeks have been used.
Hygroscopic. Moisture sensitive. Incompatible with strong acids, strong reducing agents, strong oxidizing agents, powdered metals and organic materials.
