PHENYL MERCURY NITRATE BASIC FOR SYNTHESIS
Phenylmercury nitrate is a mercury-based organic compound known to have antibacterial and antifungal activities. It is also used as a preservative for parenteral injections.
Application
Phenylmercuric nitrate is an organomercury compound with powerful antiseptic and antifungal effects. It was once commonly used as a topical solution for disinfecting wounds, but as with all organomercury compounds it is highly toxic, especially to the kidneys, and is no longer used in this application.
Dosage
Phenylmercuric nitrate (PMN) is used as a bactericide in a concentration of 0.001% in injections and 0.002 or 0.004% in some eye-drops.
