Phenyl cellosolve is a clear, colorless, viscous liquid. It is miscible in ethanol, ethylene glycol, propylene glycol, ether; slightly soluble in water (~2.5% at 20°C). 2-Phenoxy ethanol possess a broad spectrum anti-microbial activity against either gram-negative or gram-positive bacteria, yeasts and moulds.
